Wyatt Miller, 92, passed away at home on March 1st, 2025. He lived a full and happy life, and called Brooklyn, Maryland home for over 70 years.
Born in Craigsville, Virginia on June 20th, 1932, Wyatt grew up on the family farm, raised by his loving maternal grandmother. He graduated from Craigsville High School in 1949, where he met the love of his life, Evelyn. They married on August 10th, 1952, and shared an incredible 72 years of marriage.
Wyatt proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in Korea, achieving the rank of Sergeant. After his service to our country, Wyatt and Evelyn made the move to Baltimore in 1954, where they began building their family. Their first daughter Beverly was born in 1953, followed by Valerie in 1960, Cynthia in 1963, and Deana in 1967.
Wyatt worked for W.R. Grace (formally Davison Chemical Company) as a manager in the Tech Center for 42 years, where he made many lifelong friends. Outside of work, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Brooklyn, where he served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He loved the friendships he made there and was committed to his faith.
Wyatt had many passions that kept him busy. He loved reading mystery novels, walking around the neighborhood, playing horseshoes, working in the yard and gardening, and listening to Orioles games on the radio. He tried to attend as many games as he could, but especially loved Opening Day. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Wyatt is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Laura (Michael). He leaves behind his devoted wife, Evelyn; his four daughters, Beverly (David), Valerie, Cynthia (Brian), and Deana (Keith); his grandchildren, Shelby (Scott), Ross (Gabrielle), Casey, Benjamin (Carrie), Anna, Clayton, and Luke; and nine great grandchildren, Robbie, Kevin, Abbie, Colby, Evie, Jonah, Lizzy, Mackenzie and David; all of whom he adored.
Family and friends are invited to visit Gonce Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9th, from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10th, at 11:00 am at Streetlite Christian Fellowship (formally First Baptist Church of Brooklyn), followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
