William “Bill” Smiley went to be with his beloved wife of 47 years,the late Mary “Cathy” Smitley.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his daughter Cathy and her husband Shawn Whitenack, son Billy Smitley and his wife Amy and grandchildren Katlyn Phillips, Joshua Whitaker, Haley Smitley, Grant Whitaker, Cole Whitenack and Dylan Smitley. Brothers, Butch, Donald and Chuck Smitley and numerious nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jean Kuznar, Connie Todd and brother Jim Smitley.
After serving in the Army, Bill worked for MTA as a mechanic until his retirement.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, grandsons, nephews and friends along with watching the Ravens and Orioles. But most of all Bill loved spending time with his family..
The family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned GONCE FUNERAL SERVICE P. A. 4001 Ritchie Hwy. on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon. Interment in Glen Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

You both always gave me unconditional love and always made me feel welcomed in the family and in your home. I laugh out loud when I think of those crazy New Years' Eves when I would watch Cathy and Billy and you always came home happy as can be and joking around with me. You will surely be missed. I will cherish the memories of a wonderful childhood you provided me and your love for all of us. Thank you for being the best father and grandfather a girl could ask for.
