Thompson, Tommy R
With the deepest sadness in our hearts, we share news of Tommy Ray Thompson’s unexpected passing on Saturday, October 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Bennett Thompson, his daughter, Lindsey Poro and her husband Patrick, his daughter Jill Thompson and future son-in-law Ryan Schulz, his granddaughters, Lillian and Charlotte, and his granddogs, Elvis and Slider. Tommy leaves behind his sister, Sue Robinson and her husband Tony, his brother Billy Thompson and his wife Maureen, and his sister Kim Pruitt, and her husband Jason. In addition, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends share in the family’s devastating loss.
All of the pieces of our broken hearts will eventually mend back together – all but the ones Tommy takes with him. In their places, where the holes are big and deep, we will fill them with memories, thoughts, and experiences we share with the husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, mentor and coach who was simply larger than life. We will work every single day to fill these voids with the same kindness, gratitude, humor, perseverance, goodness, unconditional love, generosity, and selflessness that poured from Tommy. To know him, was to love him and so many of us have done just that. Like the holes in our hearts his passing leaves, our love for him is big and deep. He is so deeply missed, but so hugely admired and honored.
Plans for a memorial service will be shared at a later date, when it is safe for everyone to celebrate together our beloved Tommy Ray Thompson.
