On December 31, 2025, Thomas (Tom) Taylor passed away at the age of 79. Beloved husband of 54 years to Eleanor (Ellie) Taylor; loving father to Lisa Taylor and husband Mason, Cathy Taylor, and Francine Schmidt and husband Stephen; and cherished Pop Pop to Olivia, Owen, Hunter, Izak, and Ian; loving brother of Jean Ann Rusignuolo, Robert Taylor and wife Donna, Richard Taylor and wife Patricia, Lori Rose, and the late John Taylor; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A long-time parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, Tom was a man of faith. Known for co-running the CYO for many years, being an Usher at church, and active in many of the school and church fundraisers, he believed in giving back to his community.
Tom was best known for his sense of humor. Always quick with a joke because he loved to make people smile. Tom was an extremely loyal husband, father, grandfather, and brother that would give you the shirt off his back. He would talk to everyone he met, whether they wanted to talk to him or not.
Tom enjoyed going to polka dances at The Polish Home Club with Ellie, taking cruises, vacationing in Wildwood with his family, collecting hats from everywhere he visited, hunting, crabbing, and playing with all his grandpuppies.
Of all the titles he held, Pop Pop was the one he loved most. His grandkids could do no wrong in his eyes. He attended many of the grandkids sporting events, school plays, school concerts, and saw Olivia graduate from high school in May.
Tom was a Longshoreman at the Port of Baltimore for 37 years. He also drove a coach bus for Woodlawn Motor Company for over 20 years. In retirement, he became a member of the Orchard Beach Senior Club and The Jolly Club, where he often called bingo. He made many wonderful friends in both organizations.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom’s name to either Marine Corps Toys for Tots or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be at Gonce Funeral Service, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Saturday (1/3/2026) and Sunday (1/4/2026) from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be Monday (1/5/2026) at 10 A.M.
