Susan Lynne Buckman, 66 years of age, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Sue (affectionately known as Mom-Mom Sue) was born on June 9, 1959, in Baltimore, Md. to the late June Bug and Emmett Lathe. She was the fourth of six children (Shirley, Emmett, June, Sue, Dave, Wanda).
Sue married Richard Buckman in July 1997. They brought together a blended family of 6 children over the course of their union and lived mostly in Pasadena, Md. during their time together.
Sue lived life passionately and unapologetically. Loud, proud, and full of energy, she was truly a force to be reckoned with. Her greatest joy was her family—her children and her grandbabies were her world. She never missed an opportunity to say, “I love you,” and her hugs and kisses were never just once; they were heartfelt reminders of how much she cared. To Sue, family wasn’t limited by blood—if she met you once, you were family.
She cherished every relationship and gave with her whole heart, always ready to drop everything for someone in need. Her love was fierce and unwavering. Outside of her people, Sue was a devoted fan of her home team, the Baltimore Ravens, cheering them on with the same passion she brought to life. She also enjoyed boating and spending time with her boat club family.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Richard Buckman of Pasadena, MD; her children Jennifer Coburn (Halethorpe, MD), Rod Straw (Pasadena, MD), Helen Sullivan (Pasadena, MD), Traci Parker (Pasadena, MD) and stepsons Bobby Buckman (Port Charlotte, FL) and Scott Buckman; and her cherished grandchildren TJ Lamartina, Faith Fangman, Devin Jones, Merisa Hargett, Bradley Kraft, Megan Brecheen, Hope Fangman, Ronnie Fangman, Emma Coburn, Charlotte Straw, Shelby Bakalski, Shay Schikner, Tony Coburn Jr., Vanessa Rites; her great grandchildren, Aella Coburn, Amora Coburn, and Elijah Lamartina; her married into the family children, Sonja Gladwin, Rob Sullivan and Tony Coburn; and her married into the family grandchildren RJ Hargett, Hayden Brecheen, Martin Bakalski and Ben Schikner. She is also survived by her brother David Lathe and sisters Shirley Peterson and June Lewis. Honorable mentions to the very long list of nieces, nephews, their children and the unknown number of neighborhood children who she cared for and opened her heart and home to.
She is preceded in death by her parents, June Bug and Emmett Lathe, as well as her brother Emmett Lathe and sister Wanda Smith, and grandbabies Kirsten Jones and Jordan Jones.
Heaven has gained a beautiful angel—watch over us and keep us safe, Mom-Mom Sue, just as you did throughout your life on earth.
As we come to terms with this immeasurable loss, we deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Mom-mom Sue’s network was as large as her heart.
