Ronald William McGuiness, Sr., age 80, passed away December 12, 2025, in Annapolis, Maryland. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Pop Pop, and friend.
He was born April 28, 1945, son of the late John McGuiness and Clara Rose, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Ron started his 43 years with B&O Railroad right out of high school. He worked countless hours at the Coal Pier in Curtis Bay, Maryland. During his long career with the railroad, he stepped away to proudly serve his Country as a United States Marine, from 1964-1968, including one year of active duty in Vietnam. He returned to the railroad, retiring as a Clerk from CSX Transportation.
In addition to his love of country and dedication to work, he loved being in the company of his wife, family and friends. He always had a smile and joke to share; he loved making people laugh. He had a great love of sports, especially baseball and football. If there was an Orioles or Ravens game on, you would be sure to find him decked out in team colors, cheering them on. He loved listening to music, especially getting up and dancing to the Electric Slide. He was a gentle spirit with a huge light and love for life and those around him. He was a loyal friend and dedicated husband, father, and Pop Pop.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John McGuiness and his stepson, Jody Garland.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia McGuiness; his children, Ronald McGuiness, Jr. (Linda), Bre` McGuiness (Tom), John McGuiness (Samantha); his step-children, Lisa Lipscomb (Josh), Michael Garland and family; his grandchildren, Griffin, Liam, Kaylee, Aiden, Colton, Makayla, Donnie, Alivia, Eric, and David; his great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Drew.
Family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned Gonce funeral Service P.A. 4001 Ritchie Highway from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Service will begin at 7:30 PM. Mr. McGuiness will be laid to rest in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville at a later date.
