Robert Henry Plummer
December 2, 1935 – November 20, 2024
Robert Henry Plummer of the Charlestown Senior Living Community in Catonsville, MD. passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 88 after a brief illness. Robert (Bob) was born on December 2, 1935, to Edith and Henry Plummer in Ingleside, MD.
After graduating from Glen Burnie High in 1953, Bob was employed with the A & P Food Store in Glen Burnie for four years. In 1956 he began his 38-year career with C & P Telephone and Bell Atlantic Companies. He also served in the Maryland National Guard from 1957 to 1965 from which he received an honorable discharge.
Bob retired from Bell Atlantic on March 1, 1994, and enjoyed over 30 years of retirement. Bob appreciated traveling the world and reading. He loved ballroom dancing for many years, and until recently was still taking lessons. He also enjoyed creating stained glass art with the art group at Charlestown. Hunting and fishing were his favorite outdoor activities. When he turned 80, he joined the Charlestown Men’s Golf club and became its manager to continue to enjoy the outdoors and to stay active.
Bob loved his family and friends and was known by all to be a caring, kind, trustworthy and dedicated friend, father and grandfather. Bob is survived by his sons Bruce Plummer, Dale Plummer and Harry Loftus, daughter Jill Plummer Ellison, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and niece Linda Reeves.
Bob was married and divorced twice. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Charlotte Reeves, 2nd wife Betty Loftus Plummer and lovely companion Lois Neumann.
A visitation will be held at Gonce Funeral Home at 4001 Ritchie Hwy, Baltimore, MD 21225 on Friday November 22, 2024, from 10am-12pm with funeral service immediately following. Bob will be laid to rest at the Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie, MD.
