Richard Donald Wenzel, 66, of Linthicum, MD, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Elaine, his daughter Arica Puccio and son-in-law Greg, son Ryan, and his grandson, Luca, the absolute joy of his life. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Geraldine Szymanski and many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Richard was a proud member of IUEC Local 7 for 36 years. He was employed by Maryland Elevator Services for 23 years where he proudly supported and maintained the elevators at the United States Naval Academy. He was a brilliant man who never sat still; he built his home with his bare hands, enjoyed spending hours in his garden, was happiest fishing on his boat and on the beach in Key West, and always put his family first. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, details forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Amyloidosis Research Consortium here .
