Richard Lyle Burke, Sr.

On January 30, 2023, Richard Lyle Burke, U.S. Army Veteran, passed away at age 79. Mr. Burke was born and raised in Iowa, and met his wife Barbara while stationed at Fort George Meade Army Base. They married and settled in Maryland. He was a big fan of Elvis Pressley, could watch Western movies all day long, and always enjoyed traveling to family reunions, especially when they were in Iowa. A fan of the Ravens, Orioles and Terps, he also enjoyed playing golf with his family. He retired from Carr-Lowrey Glass Company where he worked for 30+ years as a machinist and shift foreman. Rich was a simple man who cherished being with his family and especially grandkids.

Richard Lyle Burke is the beloved husband of Barbara Burke; devoted father of Edward Burke and wife Shirley, Richard Burke, Jr. and wife Kim, Ron Burke and wife Karen, Ann Duvall and husband Rob; loving grandfather of Amber, Kelsey, Tyler, Mitchell, Amanda and the late Jessica. He was also blessed with great grandchildren Camille, Kayden, Brandon, Aiden, Isabella and Maygan; and was dear brother of Roger and Lester Vandell.

Friends may visit Gonce Funeral Service, 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Tuesday, February 7 from 11 AM to 1 PM at which time a service will be held. Mr. Burke will be laid to rest with Military Honors in MD Veterans Cemetery Crownsville.
