On October 21, 2023 Reita Ann (Moore) Short passed away at the age of 79. A devoted wife to Franklin G. Short, Sr. Beloved mother of son Franklin G. Short, Jr and wife Lourena M. Lamb Short and daughter Cheryl Regina Arnold and husband Frank Louis Arnold, Jr. Loving Grandmother to Frank Louis Arnold, III and paramour/wife Ashley Helmick, Katelyn Reita Arnold Butcher and Walter Rice Mayo, III. Also blessed with 6 great grandchildren, Emma Faith Reita Arnold, Frank Louis Arnold, IV, Timothy James Butcher, Jr, Abel Thomas Butcher, AliceEsaleah Reita Butcher and Raylan William James Arnold. She was preceded in death by her father James Reginald Moore, Sr. , her mother Naomi Edith (Shores) Moore and brother James Reginald Moore, Jr. She is survived by her brothers Terry D. Moore, Alan R. Moore, sister Susan Moore Schoenfelder and their loving spouses. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Reita was a nursing technician at St. Agnes Hospital for more than 20 years. She was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. She was an avid Orioles fan. She enjoyed, cooking, baking, bowling, camping, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, listening to Country music, going to Springfest and Sunfest in Ocean City, MD each year. She loved her family. She was married to the love of her life for 60 plus years. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, learn and helped to teach them right from wrong. She was the ultimate nurturer.

The family requests relatives and friends visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service P.A. 169 Riviera Dr. Pasadena MD on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Service at Church Community United Methodist Church 8680 Fort Smallwood Rd Pasadena, MD 21122 Friday, 10/27 from 10:00 am to 10:50 am open casket at the alter for those who couldn’t attend the viewing. The casket will be closed at 10:50 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am. Luncheon will be served in the church hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Community United Methodist Food Pantry at 8680 Fort Smallwood Rd Pasadena, MD 21122.
