On December 25, 2025, Recto Ocampo passed away at age 87. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Mary M. Ocampo; devoted father of Richard F. Ocampo and wife Amy, and Ronald S. Ocampo; cherished grandfather of Richard F. Jr., Alexander R., Erika N., Brendan and Austin; dear great grandfather of Aluna, Richard III, Zenaida, and Lani; loving brother of Biyo and Zeny and the late Purita and Angel; also blessed with many other loving relatives in the Philippines.
Recto was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving honorably from October 1962 to February 1966, including service during the Vietnam War. A devoted Catholic, he was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip Neri Church. Together with his wife, Recto took dancing classes at the church, eventually becoming instructors in Polish dancing. He also mastered the traditional Filipino dance Tinikling, skillfully performing with bamboo poles.
Recto possessed an adventurous spirit and a deep love for life. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together, taking cruises to warm Caribbean destinations as well as journeys north to New England. Recto found joy in lifting weights, cooking Filipino dishes, watching cooking shows and the Hallmark Channel, and cheering on his beloved Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, interests that reflected both his gentle heart and appreciation for home and family.
