Pauline Mason Obituary

PAULINE MASON, daughter of the late Ulysses Washington and Leola Pete, was born on November 19, 1932 in Beaumont, Texas. She transitioned to eternal life on June 28, 2024.

The matriarch of the family was raised in New York where she received her education and gave birth to all of her children. She relocated to Maryland and worked at City Hospital as a Patient Aide and in the Baltimore City Public School System as the Principle's Secretary where she later retired to care for her grandson. She enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally, however, her favorite of all was visiting Deep Creek, MD. Some of her passions were watching her soaps (The Young & the Restless), dancing, planning, and overcooking for family events.

Spending time with her grandkids meant the world to her. She was the go-to person for everything no matter how busy things got she was always about her family and made time for the people she loved. She has touched the hearts of a lot of people she met along the way throughout her 91 years and will sincerely be missed by everyone who knew her.

In 1952, Pauline married the late James Mason, and out of this union nine children were born - Harry "Glenn", James "Butch", Marty, Damita, Pamela, Curtis, Michelle, Kevin, and Vanessa. She leaves to mourn, her three sons Marty (Claire), Curtis, and Kevin; four daughters Damita (Michael), Pamela, Michelle, and Vanessa; seventeen grandchildren Harry (Claudia), Gregory "Shawn", Bolder, Thomas "J", Deshelle (Darrell), Robert, Michael, Jr. (Alicia), Ryan, Aisha, Desha, Kanesha, Devin, KaNaya, Davon, Trent, Evan, and DeSean; twenty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a very dear to heart cousin Lillian Howell and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death is husband James and children Harry and James.

Family requests relatives and friends to join them in the Celebration of life at Brooklyn Church of God on Wednesday from 1 PM to 2:30 PM. Service will begin at 2:30 PM.

Please feel free to express your condolences on her tribute wall.

God's Garden

God looked around His garden And found an empty place.

He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful,

He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,

He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never

Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb.

So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine."

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you did not go alone For part of us went with you The day God called you home.
