Patricia Piraino Obituary

Piraino, Patsy

Patricia “Patsy” Genevieve Piraino was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on June 12, 2021 at age 78.

She was born to Mary and Frank Cwalina on January 22, 1943. After graduating from high school, Pat worked with the Coast Guard in Curtis Bay until she married Joseph Piraino on November 3, 1962. They met at the bowling alley and were married 58 years. Together, they had 4 children: Joseph II, Mark, Michael and Christopher.  She was loved by her husband, children, daughters-in-law Suzie and Rosemary, grandchildren Maximilian, Alexander, Isabelle, Luciano and Jack, and siblings Ed Cwalina (deceased), Frances Cooke (deceased), Dorothy Tucker, Irene DeBorde (deceased), Bernadine Zambotti and Frank (Bo) Cwalina.

Pat loved taking care of her family. She always knew each person’s favorite dish and was known for the beautiful, delicious cakes she made for family and neighbor events.  Pat worked as an administrator for NASA for 26 years.  Her nieces and nephews remember how Pat cared about what was happening in their lives. She celebrated everyone’s joys and prayed for their struggles.  She was an avid reader, could play pinochle all night with her sisters and enjoyed travelling with her husband.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 am on Friday June 18, 2021 at St. Athanasius church where Pat was a member throughout her life.  We will remember her in the parish when we see the tabernacle light in the main church as well as the light in the chapel. Both were donated to St. Athanasius by the Pirainos. She and her husband Joe donate regularly to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and encourage others to do the same.
