Patricia Downey

Patricia Ann Downey (Pat), 68, of Baltimore, MD sadly left our world on January 23, 2025, surrounded by family in her home. She was the beloved daughter of Earl and Jean Wood, who preceded her in death, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many. 

Pat resided in Brooklyn Park, MD, where she built a life full of love. She was devoted to her family and is survived by her husband of 49 years; Gary Lee Downey Sr., Daughter; Melissa (Dan) Barnhart, Sons; Brian Downey and Justin Downey, Siblings; Josie (Kevin) Cooper, Jeannie (Tom) Garrett, Lisa (Jim) Franklin, Earl Wood, Sandy (Gregg) Black. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren; Kyle (Cierra) Jones, Aiden Barnhart, Emily Barnhart, Shane Downey, and great grandson; Cole Jones, who will all miss her warmth, wisdom, and infectious laughter.  Her family takes comfort knowing that Pat is reunited with her sons, Gary Lee Downey, Jr. and Steven Patrick Downey, who preceded her in death.

Pat was an affectionate, dedicated and hardworking individual who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She worked 20+ years as a cashier and trainer at 7-11.  Her loving and compassionate caretaking skills shined as she was a second mother to all, a child daycare provider, and provided end of life care for many of her loved ones. 

She was passionate about her interests including tending to her flower gardens, Ravens football, cooking and baking. She was an avid crafter who loved being in front of her sewing machine. She would find a thrift store in any city she visited. She had a love for the beach. A lover of reality TV game shows, and a fan of home renovation shows and Hallmark movies, Pat cherished moments of relaxation and entertainment.

A memorial gathering will be held in her honor at 1:00-2:00 pm on Friday, January 31 at Gonce Funeral Service, 4001 Ritchie Highway, with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm.
