Abend, Patricia Ann

     Patricia Ann Abend (née Myers) passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024 at her home in Berlin, Maryland. Patricia was born in Baltimore on March 19, 1943 to Hazel A. Bush and Francis J. Myers. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa M. Virtue, and her son-in-law, Michael T. Virtue, Sr. She is also survived by her nephews, Gary Abend and Clifford Ferrin, her nieces, Pat Fissel, Donna Broseker, and Megan Colvin, her great niece, Kirstie Elgamal, and her great nephew, Brady Ferrin. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Robert E. Abend. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Francis Myers, her sister, Maryjane Ferrin, and her nephew, Matthew Ferrin. Patricia was a school teacher in Anne Arundel County for thirty-five years, specializing in United States History and Maryland History. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family on their many trips to Ocean City, Maryland and visiting the many historic places in the area. She also enjoyed spending time playing cards or going out to eat with her dear friends, Barbara Pattillo, Marcia Gampel, Joan De Tuccio, and Kathy and Terry Moore. She was a long time resident of Brooklyn Park, Maryland at the small strawberry and vegetable farm she shared with her husband, where she displayed her collections of teapots, house figurines, and teacher collectibles. Patricia was a life long Catholic, worshiping at St. Athanasius and St. Rose of Lima parishes in Baltimore. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother, a great friend, and a kind-hearted soul to everyone that knew her.

     Family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service P.A. 4001 Ritchie Highway on Monday (May 20) from 10 am to 12 pm. The funeral service will be held at 12 pm. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
