Olga Messoria Obituary

On February 20, 2026, Olga Messoria passed away at age 91. Dearest Olga was our much beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  She was an example of strength and resilience through hardship and of maintaining a deep love and kindness for family and friends.

Olga was born in Korosten, Ukraine in 1934 and became a displaced person along with her family during World War II traveling from East to West and making it to the United States in 1951.  In 1954, she married Jerry Melnyk and together they had three children, Stephen, Edward and Mary, to whom she was dedicated.  She worked at a number of bakeries and made friends everywhere. She later remarried to William Messoria.  She loved socializing with friends, playing bingo, taking road trips, gardening and singing. Her favorite hobby was crocheting.  She crocheted a blanket for almost every extended family member who knew her and particularly for the birth of each new child.  She was a prayerful woman in the Catholic faith and grateful to be in the United States.

She was pre-deceased by her parents (Josephine and August Berg) and siblings (Edward, Alvine, Carl and Adolph).  Survivors include her children Stephen and Susan, Edward and Kyoko, and Mary and Hugo along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their children.

Relatives and friends may visit Gonce Funeral Service, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Sunday (March 1, 2026) from 4 to 8 PM.
