Nicholas Frederick Martin, 27, of Columbia, MD passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He leaves behind his mother Dawn Martin-Edwards (nee Vain) and stepfather Daniel A. Edwards, father Brian K. Martin and stepmother Kathleen Haines Martin. He is also survived by his siblings Alexander Martin, Jessica Martin and stepbrother Alexander Haines, as well as grandmother Kathleen Vain, nephew Liam Haines and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Nick was preceded in death by his grandparents Frederick Martin, Dorothy Martin and Charles J. Vain.
Nicholas was born on August 5, 1997 at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore Maryland and grew up in Baltimore & Hanover, Md. He proudly graduated Kennedy Krieger High School in 2015 and attended Howard County Community College for a brief time. He enjoyed working at the Garden Center at Home Depot in Columbia, Maryland where he was loved by many. He loved spending his free time with his friends and family, especially his siblings who he greatly looked up to.
Nicholas’s life, though short, was marked by his unique ability to find light in the darkest times. He was a loving young man with a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the room. He had a unique sense of humor and particularly loved “dad jokes”. His positivity, perseverance and laughter were infectious, and he leaves behind a legacy of resilience and love. Despite many obstacles in his young life, Nicholas faced each day with a strength that inspired those around him. He approached life with a true belief that anything was possible. Nicholas found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life, especially in gardening and baking with his mom, building with Legos and immersing himself in the adventures of video games and books.
Nicholas will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the countless moments of joy and laughter he shared with them. In honor of Nicholas, we remember not just the challenges he faced, but the tremendous courage, humor, and love with which he faced them.
The family will receive friends at Gonce Funeral Home 4001 Ritchie Highway, Baltimore, Maryland 21225 on September 03, 2024 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Interment will be private at a later date.
