Melvin B. Sands
September 15, 1948 - February 7, 2025
It is with immense sadness we announce the passing of Melvin Sands a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Melvin was born in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late Richard Sands, Jr. and Margaret Sands and the devoted husband to the late JoAnn Sands.
Melvin was a hard worker. He enjoyed driving trucks. He enjoyed being with family and friends having fun laughing, joking, and playing practical jokes. Melvin had the heart of gold and always tried to help someone if they needed help.
Melvin is survived by his children Brenda (Neil) Sands, Deborah (John) Sands-Barrett, Jamie Brooks, Wendey (Sonny) Monroe, Ashley (Casey) King, Ray (Brittney) Tolley, Christopher (Joe) Tolley; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Melvin was also the brother to Drema (Larry) Walker, Leroy Sands, and the Late Richard Sands, III.
Melvin definitely left a special place in our hearts and we will continue his legacy through our stories he left with us.
The family requests relatives and friends visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway on Thursday (February 13, 2025) 2 - 5 PM.
"Rest in peace, dad. Fly high with the angels and always watch over us."
Feel free to express your condolences on his tribute wall.
In lieu of flowers, the family would thankfully accept donations to the funeral home to help with the funeral cost.
