Campbell, Bruce
On Thursday, June 4, 2020, Bruce Campbell, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at age 78. Bruce was born on January 11, 1942 in Washington, DC to Lonnie Bruce Campbell Senior and Mary Ellen Campbell.
"Mr. Bruce" is survived by his beloved wife Della Campbell; children Miles Mason, Sylvia and Fawzy Nafady; Chris and Edward Campbell; Kyle Harshfield, Lori, Michelle and Ronda; Sister Cecilia Campbell, his aunt Barbara Jackson, sister-in-law Linda Frazier; nephew Mike Kidwell (his official camping Buddy); Grandchildren Anthony, Alejandro "Alex" and Cristina, his five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Jim and Jack Campbell.
Bruce was a devoted soldier who served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He later worked as a Security Guard at Laurel Regional Hospital in Prince George’s County, MD and retired after serving for more than 25 years. Bruce was an expert wood craftsman and had a gift of crafting wood furniture, from chests of drawers, bed head boards, tables, chairs, and just about anything, especially at Nana’s (Della) request. He enjoyed the great outdoors, boating, fishing, biking, but most of all he loved camping. He shared his love for camping with all his grandchildren, family and all his loving dogs, Molly, Mandy, Peaches, Sugar and his Beloved Hap, his loyal companion of 22 years. Camping was more than a need for Mr. Bruce, it almost was as if he belonged out there in nature. It's where he really felt at home. He will forever live in our hearts!
Do not weep
Do not stand by my grave and weep
For I'm not there
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am a diamond glint on snow,
I am the gentle autumn rain,
When you awake in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry,
For I am not here... I did not die.
Memorial at a later date.
