Katherine Spinks, age 82 of York, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5th, 2024. Katherine was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Edward and Mary (Burton) Charron. She grew up in the Mr. Winans / West Port / South Baltimore areas. Katherine was just twelve years old when her mother passed away. She met and then married James Spinks, Sr. in May of 1959. In her thirties, she became a single mother of four children. She earned her high school equivalency and continued on to earn a degree from CCB Harbor Campus. Her motto was ... "It's never too late!" She worked for the Maryland Judicial System at the Baltimore City Court House for over 20 years, where she retired.
She was a devout Christian and a member of Brooklyn Bible Chapel in Baltimore. She loved reading the Bible, watching Westerns, game shows and crafting. Katherine's heart overflowed with love for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren every chance she could get. She also cherished talking to her best friend of many years, Dorothy Moore. Katherine will be remembered most for her caring and loyal spirit, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to have crossed her path.
She is survived by one brother, Ed Charron (Audrey), four children, Annette Schroll (George), Jimmy Spinks (Stacy), Julie Fernandez (Isaias) and Gary Spinks (Kimberly), eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well. She is predeceased by her brothers Ed (who passed as a baby) and Jack Charron, her six sisters Nancy, Thelma, Dorothy, Annie, Mary and Florence, and her granddaughter Brittany Spinks.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Katherine's Life at Gonce Funeral Service, 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Wednesday (January 10, 2024) from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 AM, with interment to follow in Loudon Park Cemetery.
