Joseph James O'Malley III

      On October 20th, 2024. Joseph J. O'Malley III passed away. He was the Beloved husband of 36 years to Victoria O'Malley. Cherished father of Kerri O'Malley, Bridget O'Malley and husband Malcolm Harris, and Joseph O'Malley IV. Dear Grandfather of Madison Gogue, Piper Gogue, and Brayden Gogue. Loved son of Joseph and Elaine O'Malley. Brother of Theresa, Elaine, Maureen, Patrick, Kelly and Michael.

      Mr. O’Malley was a sports enthusiast through and through, with his top three being baseball, football, and golf. A proud fan of the Baltimore Orioles, the Ravens, and the Maryland Terrapins, he found joy in every game, whether cheering from the stands or at home. As a talented golfer, he spent many weekends on the course, perfecting his swing and enjoying the company of friends.

      An alumnus of Mount St. Joseph, Class of 1977, Mr. O’Malley excelled as both a baseball and basketball player, earning admiration for his skill, determination, and sportsmanship. His love for sports extended to coaching, being a devoted coach for his children’s travel softball and basketball teams, traveling all over the country. These years were among the happiest of his life, as he shared his knowledge and passion with the next generation, forming lifelong bonds with his family and the teams he led.

      Music was another of Mr. O’Malley’s great loves, especially classic rock. He was a dedicated fan of the band Crack the Sky, a connection he shared with his son. They enjoyed attending live concerts together, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

      Rest in peace, Mr. O’Malley, your spirit will forever live on in the fields, courts, music, and family that brought you love and joy.

      Family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service P.A. 4001 Ritchie Highway on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 10 AM in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
