John Franklin Herzberger, age 88, resident of Orchard Beach and previously South Baltimore, passed away at home with his family on November 12, 2021. He was born on July 2, 1933, in Baltimore, to the late Mary Frances Clifton (nee Shipley) and John Harry Herzberger and was raised by John Harry Herzberger and step mother Ruth Herzberger in West Virginia. He joined the US Air Force and rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked over 30 years as a driver training instructor for BG&E before enjoying full retirement with his loving wife of 68 years. His passion was playing and singing country music and sharing the gift of music with his family and friends. He enjoyed family gatherings playing guitar with his son's and grandsons, he loved his Country, living on the water boating, fishing, crabbing and hunting. He was a lifetime member of numerous clubs, including the American Legion Post 187, VFW Post 2462, Loyal Order of Moose, Elks Club and CBAC.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Herzberger who passed in 2018, son John Harry Herzberger, Sr. who passed in 2020 and brother Kenneth Herzberger who passed in 1990. He is survived by his son Robert C Herzberger and his wife Dawn of Baltimore, his daughter Darlene J Price of Orchard Beach and daughter in law Gaetano Herzberger of Forest Hill. He is further survived by his Grandchildren, John H Herzberger Jr, Michael S Herzberger and his wife Kimberly, Tina Goins and her husband Chester, Melissa Herzberger, Amanda Herzberger and her husband Gus, Kristen Haupt and her husband Danny, Karen Knorr and her husband Christopher. He was blessed with 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. John was well loved and will be missed by all.
Family requests friends visit the Gonce Funeral Service P.A., 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Friday, November 19, 2021 for visitation from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. His funeral service will be at the funeral home Saturday at 10:00 A.M. Interment immediately following at Glen Haven Memorial Park on Ritchie Hwy in Glen Burnie.
