On September 4, 2021. Joan Ann Coleman (nee Staton) passed away peacefully after suffering several strokes and advanced dementia.
Cherished Wife of James Coleman. Loving Mother to James Broadwater and his wife Janice, Lori (Broadwater) Goldberg-Deskin and her husband Ron, Karen (Coleman) Locklear and her husband Randy and her devoted caregiver Kristi Brooks. She was preceded in passing by her precious daughter Lillian.
Loving Sister of the late Mary Lou Neal, James “Bubby” Staton, Hazel “Sis” Wolfe, Richard “Dickey” Staton and Veronica “Bonnie” Maxey.
Doting Grandmother of Christopher James Schlauch, Stacey Evans, Jimmy Broadwater, Jacob Goldberg, Alisha Locklear and Randy Locklear, Jr.
Loving Great Grandmother of Christopher Michael Schlauch, Austin Schlauch, Devin Schlauch, Aubrey Schlauch, Keenan and Kyla Evans, Astraea and Nimora Goldberg.
She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.
Joan retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation but her greatest job was caring for her family especially her grandchildren. She was ”family famous” for her homemade BBQ and shrimp macaroni salad.
She enjoyed camping, annual family trips to Ocean City, traveling with her husband to Hawaii, California, and Mexico and all things Elvis. She loved to volunteer and was very active years ago at St. Rose of Lima working with Sr. Mary Fennell.
Family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned GONCE FUNERAL SERVICE P. A. 4001 Ritchie Hwy on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
