Helen Hobbs Obituary

Hobbs, Helen A.

On November 20, 2020, Helen A. Hobbs (Sissie Mae) passed away at age 85.  Helen lost her husband, Hobbs, in August 2020.  She was a loving wife for 67 years and the devoted mother of Karen McKenna and husband Gregory, Donna Alt and husband Richard, and the late Littell Hobbs Jr and wife Karen.  She was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and two cherished sisters, Eleanor Vleeschouwer and Regina (Ginger) Townsley.

Helen had a unique exuberance for life.  She had a quick wit and terrific sense of humor.  She loved being surrounded by family and friends.  One of her favorite activities was dancing with her beloved Hobbs.  She was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s activities attending their many academic, scouting, and sports activities.

Helen was a travel agent for more than 40 years and traveled the world extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Hawaii, and The Caribbean often escorting groups across the pond to Ireland.  She and Hobbs traveled the USA in an exciting 10 week cross country trip.  Cruises were a favorite and she sailed more than 50 cruises with Hobbs.

She devoted many hours volunteering with Opportunities Builders, Inc. training developmentally disabled adults for instrumental “Bells” shows.  She was also active with Hobbs in the Knights of Columbus, Order of The Alhambra.

Helen lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.  Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear.”
