It is with profound sadness, but with hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Gregory John Marciniak, Sr., who entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2026, at the age of 87.

Greg's life was a testament to faith, family, service, and generosity. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, coach, mentor, and friend. He believed that the measure of a person's life was found not in what they accumulated, but in how they treated others. Through his kindness, humor, unwavering faith, and willingness to help anyone in need, Greg left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born on March 12, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, Greg was the beloved son of the late John and Sophia Marciniak. From an early age, he developed the values that would define his life—hard work, humility, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Greg proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying with him throughout his life the values of duty, honor, and service.

A printer by trade, but truly a man of many talents, Greg began his career with the News American, later worked for The Baltimore Sun, and eventually became self-employed. He was respected not only for his craftsmanship and work ethic but for his willingness to help anyone who needed him. If something was broken, Greg could fix it. If someone needed help, Greg was there.

One of Greg's greatest passions was mentoring young people. He dedicated countless hours coaching youth athletics with the Buccaneers and the Lake Shore Spartans, where he taught generations of young athletes not only how to compete, but how to become responsible, respectful adults. His influence reached far beyond the playing field.

His faith was the cornerstone of his life. Greg faithfully served his parish as a lector, was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, and actively participated in the Order of Alhambra, living his faith through service, compassion, and love for others.

Greg was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Sophia Marciniak; his brothers, Raymond Marciniak and Chester Marciniak; and his sister, Charlotte Pruce.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Marciniak, whose love and partnership were the foundation of treasured memories.

He leaves behind his loving sons, John Marciniak, Gregory Marciniak, Jr., Walter Marciniak, and Edmund Marciniak. He also lovingly cared for Thomas Brennan for eight years, treating him as one of his own and forever changing his life through his compassion and devotion.

He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Christy Marciniak, Jan Marciniak, Jane Marciniak, and Kate Marciniak; his cherished grandchildren, Amanda Truitt, Steven Marciniak, Chelsea Dieter, Madison Hutchinson, Cameron Marciniak, Sophia Blue, and Brandon Marciniak; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Camden Truitt, Mason Truitt, Quinn Dieter, June Hutchinson, Emma Marciniak, and Lyla Marciniak.

To his grandchildren, he was simply "Popi/Poppy." That name represented so much more than a title—it represented unconditional love, encouragement, laughter, and countless cherished memories that will live on for generations.

Greg is also survived by his loving sister, Dolores Luberecki, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Those who knew Greg will remember his infectious smile, his unforgettable stories, his quick wit, and his remarkable generosity. He was the kind of man who quietly helped others without expecting recognition, always putting family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers before himself. His life demonstrated that true greatness is measured by kindness, humility, and love.

One phrase perfectly captured Greg's steadfast faith and optimism. Whenever saying goodbye, he would smile and say: "If I don't see you here, I'll see you there."

Those simple words now carry even greater meaning. They remind us of his unwavering belief that this goodbye is only temporary and that, through faith, we will meet again.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Greg has been welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior. His legacy lives on in the family he adored, the countless young people he mentored, the friends he inspired, and the many lives he touched through his generosity and unwavering faith.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Greg's life during visitation on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gonce Funeral Service, P.A., Riviera Beach, Maryland.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Riviera Beach, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Tunnels to Towers, honoring Greg's lifelong commitment to caring for others.
