George Votta Obituary

George James Votta, born December 26, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, March 11, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend, George lived a life defined by dedication, craftsmanship, and deep love for his family.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership and devotion. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values that continue through generations.

He is survived by his children: his son Guy and Guy’s spouse Nancy; his son Jared; and his daughter Dana and her spouse Chris. George was immensely proud of his growing family and found great joy in being a grandfather to eight grandchildren—Adam, Steven, Christianna, Micaiah, Ethan, Elianna, Rebecca, and Emma—and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren—Brooklyn, Addison, and Nicholas George. His family was the center of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

George built a distinguished career in manufacturing leadership, spending more than forty years with Westinghouse and later Northrop Grumman. Throughout his career he was respected for his strong work ethic, integrity, and ability to lead teams with both skill and humility. Colleagues valued his knowledge, reliability, and the steady leadership he brought to every challenge. His work helped shape projects and teams that continued long after his retirement.

Outside of work, George believed strongly in the importance of supporting young people and giving back to his community. He was actively involved in youth sports for many years, offering his time and encouragement to young athletes. Whether on the sidelines or helping organize activities, he took pride in mentoring and supporting the next generation.

George also pursued hobbies that reflected both his competitive spirit and his artistic patience. He was an avid competitive billiards player who enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie the game provided. He also practiced the art of duck carving, a craft that required careful attention to detail and a steady hand—qualities that reflected George’s character.

Those who knew George will remember his strength, his steady presence, and the deep care he showed for the people in his life. He was a man who valued hard work, loyalty, and family above all else. His wisdom, humor, and example will continue to guide those who loved him.

George’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Judes Children’s Hospital are appreciated.
