Eugene "Gene" Francis Thompson Jr., 79, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026. Born on March 9, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, Gene was the beloved son of the late Eugene Thompson Sr. and Ruby Thompson.
Gene honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy, exemplifying dedication and commitment during his military service. After his time in the Navy, he devoted his life to his family and those closest to him.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret (Marty) who was his steadfast partner throughout their life together. He was a proud father to son Rick Thompson and daughter Tracey Dawson, who continue to carry forward his legacy. He was also a proud Father-in-law to Brooke Thompson and Dexter Dawson. Gene was also a cherished grandfather to Hailey, Dexter, Ally, Carley, Brandon, and Andrew. His sisters Bonnie, Joanne, and Shirley survive him as well and will forever treasure the memories they shared with their brother.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Gene’s life was defined by his unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Viewing will be held on April 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Gonce Funeral Home, 4001 Ritchie Hwy. A Funeral Service will take place on April 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Gonce Funeral Home. Burial will follow immediately at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
