Eugene Perkins, Jr. Obituary

On October 13, 2021,  Eugene L. Perkins Jr. passed peacefully from this life. He was the beloved son of Eugene L Perkins and Josephine M. Perkins (nee Gall). Brother to the late William Boley. Dedicated and loving brother to Catherine M. Hood (nee Perkins). He is predeceased by the love of his life, Mary Frances Perkins (nee Henn). A supremely dedicated family man, Mr. Perkins is survived by his children: Eugene L. Perkins III, Carol A. Peed (nee Perkins) and Patricia M. Young (nee Perkins) and their spouses: Leslie K. Perkins and Douglas V. Peed. Ten (10) grandchildren: William H. Critzman III, Eugene L. Perkins IV, Christopher M. Critzman, Victor E. Perkins, Jessica L. Fenton (nee Young), Thomas E. Young Jr. (TJ), Kathleen M. Conklin (nee Dunn), Ryan D. Frankhouser, Christopher G. Dunn, Casey J. Werren (nee Thompson) and eleven (11) great grandchildren, along with many cherished nephews and nieces.

He attended Forest Park High School excelling in academics and athletics. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Yeoman and was an honorably discharged World War II Veteran.

After completing his service, Mr. Perkins was employed by the Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Company (aka, the Drydock)  as a Personnel Assistant in 1947. Concurrent with his employment, Mr. Perkins attended The Eastern College of Business (now The University of Baltimore Merrick school of Business) achieving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Degree. At Maryland Shipbuilding, he rose through management ranks to ultimately hold the senior office of Director of Industrial Relations, Personnel and Insurance until the company’s cessation of operations in 1984. He had an active and long standing role in the State of Maryland Shipbuilding Industrial Relations Council. Additionally, he was extremely involved in local and county community affairs serving as chairman on numerous boards of directors. Upon his retirement, his sincere religious beliefs led him to become a Eucharistic Minister in his home parish of St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Riviera Beach, Maryland.  Always with a steady hand, his dedication to his entire family was fiercely unwavering and brought him the most joy. If we could ask dad, “Will we be together again?”,  his answer without a doubt would be, “We’ll see”.
