Steckel, Eric P
Eric P. Steckel, 73 of Orchard Beach, MD passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2020 from cardiac related issues. He is a Pittsburgh native and moved to MD to pursue his career in electronics. Husband of Juanita (nee Ferguson), devoted father of Ericka Steckel, Alison Steckel, late Michael Steckel and John Cykoski. Loving Grandfather of 5 grandchildren, Austin, Gregory, Brayden, Madelyn and Lilly. Dear brother of Alan Steckel (wife Kathy) and the late Gregory K. Steckel. He was predeceased by his parents Albert J. Steckel and Anne M. Steckel (Nee Jaketic) of Pittsburgh, PA. Dear Uncle of 4 nieces Melissa, Natalie, Rachel and Adrienne of Pittsburgh, PA and many other cousins.
Eric served 4 years in the United States Air Force, he earned an associate’s degree in Electronics and held a successful career as a Radar Technician where he worked at Northrup Grumman (formerly Westinghouse) for 36 years. Eric had a great passion for music and had the ability to play any instrument placed in front of him, he fulfilled his talents by participating in many bands, orchestras, and Tamburitzan groups for over 30 years of his life. Eric had a love for airplanes and obtained his pilot’s license where he enjoyed flying Cessna’s in his younger years, he enjoyed watching game shows and football and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Family and Friends knew him for his comical sense of humor, for his long and detailed-oriented stories which he would share often with everyone, and for his kind-hearted and supportive nature. He was very empathetic and would give his shirt off his back for anyone in need. He was the giver of sound advice and support in the most selfless waysat any given time. The family request relatives and friends to visit the family owned GONCE FUNERAL SERVICE P. A. 169 Riviera Drive on Monday and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:15 AM. Interment will follow in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, Md.
