On October 26, 2024, Edward John Kneavel, age 95, passed away at home. He was married to his cherished wife, Mary E. Kneavel (deceased 11/1/2020), for 71 years. He was the dear son of the late Edward and Vera Kneavel; dedicated father of Kathleen, Joseph and his wife Debbie, Mary Teresa and her husband Charles, Elizabeth and Margaret and her husband Dave. He was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Edward grew up in Brooklyn, Maryland, attended St. Rose of Lima, and served in the Army. He was a Baltimore City policeman for 27 years and, upon retirement, moved to Ocean City, Maryland.

For over 30 years, Edward, also known to his Scout family as "Smokey", was a dedicated Boy Scout leader at St. Rose of Lima, guiding and inspiring many young scouts with his unwavering commitment an spirit. His legacy of mentorship is cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.

Edward was also a passionate train enthusiast. Captivated by railroads, he shared that joy with others. Whether attending train shows, restoring old Lionel trains, sharing stories, or exploring the history of trains, he embraced his hobby with the same energy and heart he brought to all areas of his life.

He enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, and their journeys took them to many treasured places. Ireland, visiting the Canadian mountains, and seeing the ponies at Chincoteague, Virginia held a special place in his heart.

Edward loved to camp and shared that joy with his family on countless adventures to the scenic hills of West Virginia, affectionately referred to as "the country". Known for his fierce campfires and undying love for the humble onion, he created unforgettable memories with those he loved most.

His memory lives on in the hearts of those he touched and the countless stories of his remarkable life. His legacy as "Smokey" lives on in the hearts of his Scout family and all those he inspired.
