Coleman, Dennis
On October 15, 2023 Dennis William Coleman Sr. passed away from heart disease at age 80. Raised in Brooklyn by his widowed mother, Jessie Theresa Coleman, as a young boy he spent his summers with his Uncle Marty and Aunt Mary Davitt in Scranton, PA. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, and graduate of Southern High School. He married his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen on November 17, 1962. They became members of St. Clements Church in Lansdowne, were parishioners there, and bought a home in Lansdowne in 1964. He also became a member of the Sons of the American Legion in honor of his father's service in the U.S. Navy. Dennis retired after 40 years with the A&P Tea company/Super Fresh food markets, but was also a Master Barber by trade. He worked over 15 years at the barber shop in Farmer's Market on Ritchie highway in Brooklyn, and also cut hair in several barber shops including J&D's on Hammonds Ferry rd. He eventually opened his own shop "Den's Day Spa" in Brooklyn Park. Dennis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially fishing, crabbing, and hunting with his family, grandkids, and friends on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Dennis William Coleman Sr., was the beloved husband of Mary Ellen Coleman (nee Frame); cherished father of Dennis William Coleman Jr. and wife Beth Anne Coleman (nee Gross) and Vernon Michael Coleman; loving grandfather of Kaitlyn Young, Dennis William, William David, David Benjamin and Benjamin Dennis; devoted son of the late Jessie Theresa (nee Scullion) and Michael Joseph Coleman Sr.; dear brother of James Martin Coleman and his late wife Joan, the late Marleen Kanavy and husband Charles "Carey" Kanavy, the late Margaret Usselton and her late husband Don Usselton and the late Buck Good and the late Michael J. Coleman Jr. and his late wife Helen and the late Donald Coleman and his wife Patsy. He was also son in law of Lois and the late Vernon Frame, and the late Florence and Henry Robbins as well as brother in law to Flo Fleming, Glenn Frame, Michele Miller and Tara Wickler. He was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit Gonce Funeral Service P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Thursday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service on Friday at 11am. Interment in Lakeview Memorial Park.
