On June 22, 2026, Denise Hurd passed away at age 72. 

Denise grew up spending countless summers at the Beach in Ocean City, Maryland where her parents had a condo. Days were spent playing under the sun on the sand. Her father hung beach towels on the patio, and when they came down, the sun was setting, and it was time to go home.

She shared a special bond with her sister, creating memories through many adventures. The two enjoyed traveling on cruises, trips to Las Vegas, Mary Kay excursions, and visiting family at Disney. A favorite pastime was the immense shopping trips in Hagerstown. 

As Denise created a family of her own, her 3 boys became her world. Her family continued to grow and create wonderful memories. Whether gathered around a table covered in steamed crabs or surrounded by loved ones at family get togethers, she found her greatest joy in spending time with the people she loved most. A devoted grandmother, she especially loved being with her grandchildren. 

Denise's family can find comfort in imagining beach towels being taken down, and she has gone home to be reunited with her parents and loved ones in Heaven. Denise was the beloved mother of Scott, Nicholas, and Thomas; cherished grandmother of Emma, Eva, Brooke and Blake; dear sister of Jackie Walton Leimbach and Edgar Walton; also blessed with 7 nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed. 

The family requests relatives and friends visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service, P.A., 169 Riviera Drive, on Sunday (June 28, 2026) from 1PM - 5PM. The funeral mass will be held at St. Jane France Catholic Church on Monday (June 29, 2026) at 10AM.
