Tonnessen, David W.

On September 13, 2020 David Tonnessen (formerly Thompson) passed away at the age of 78. Born in Englewood, N. J. on June 17, 1942. David graduated from City College of Baltimore, University of Maryland and then law school. He proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Army and was a practicing attorney in Maryland for 40 years. He was long time member of Sons of Norway, Norwegian American Club and Emmanuel Wesleyan Church of College Park. Never did he miss a game on TV of his favorite team, the NEW YORK YANKEES.

David was so proud of his Norwegian Ancestry, that he changed his anglicized surname of Thompson back to his true family name Tonnessen.

 David W. Thompson Tonnessen was the loving father of Candace, Esther and her husband  Bo Petkovich and William. Beloved brother of Stephen and Philip and was also blessed with grandchildren Kax, Emma, Chloe and Jordyn.

The family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned GONCE FUNERAL SERVICE P. A. 4001 Ritchie Hwy. on Thursday from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM at which time services will be held. Interment will be held in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
