On July 23, 2025 David was the beloved husband of the late Kim Smith; Brother of John W. Smith Jr., Donald Smith, Timothy Smith (Valerie), Darlene Harris, Susan Schmincke (Jay) and the late Nancy Elza Jr. (Bales), Peggy Smith, Charlotte M. Peeples, Ronald H. Smith, and Bruce W. Smith (Denise).; Uncle of Brian Elza (Judith) and Justin Elza.

David grew up on Riverside Avenue in South Baltimore then moved to Brooklyn after his marriage to Elain "Kim" who precede him in death. He was step-father to the late Edward Eckhardt; Dave and his wife were relators until their retirement.

David was an avid pool player and hunter. He enjoyed scuba diving, Jujitsu, flying planes, deep sea fishing and traveling,

He was always involved in family activities and was first to be called for advice. He was the best brother, uncle and great-uncle.

His death leaves a huge void to all those who loved him. He will be remembered for his generosity, courage and kindness.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Cemetery.
