Smitley, Charles T.
On January 26, 2024, Charles “Chuck” Smitley passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved husband to Helaine Smitley for 45 years and a devoted father to Jayson Smitley and his wife Jennifer. Chuck was the biggest fan of his grandchildren, Aubrey, Morgan and Tyler. He is survived by his brother Donald Smitley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Son of the late James and Peg Smitley and preceded in death by his siblings Jean Kuznar, Joseph Smitley, William Smitley, Connie Todd, James Smitley.
Chuck was proud to have served in the Air Force from 1972-1976. He continued to work as a stationary/building engineer for Rhodia and COPT until he retired in 2019. Though Chuck didn’t know how to stay still. When not at work and in retirement, you could find Chuck in his garage tinkering on homemade projects. He would jump at the chance to help someone and could always devise a plan to “make it work”. Every Saturday morning, he could be found perusing for deals at Brumwell’s flea market.
When he would relax, Chuck loved watching Westerns, especially The Rifleman, and enjoyed the Three Stooges. Chuck and Helaine kept a camper outside of Ocean City, MD which was their monthly retreat. But most of all, Chuck loved his family and spending as much time as possible with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Family requests relatives and friends visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service P.A. 169 Riviera Dr. Pasadena on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at 11 AM. Followed by interment with Military Honors in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
