Cassie M. Smith

    On August 23, 2023, Cassie Marie Smith passed away with her loving daughter/caretaker by her side. She was born in Ithaca, New York and raised in Redwood City, California. In her teen years, she volunteered as a candy striper in the local hospital. After graduating from San Carlos High School in 1978, she helped take care of the elderly in nursing homes.

    Cassie took the plunge and moved to Pasadena, Maryland in 1980 to join her parents and family. She continued to work with the elderly  until giving birth to her two children. She had a fulfilling life in Maryland enjoying her family, new found friends, and the amazing seafood from the Chesapeake Bay for 44 years. Cassie was the loving mother of Christine M. Swauger and Donald "DJ" Swauger who she shared with Christopher Swauger; beloved daughter of Donald and the late Suzanne Trice.

    Friends may visit Gonce Funeral Service P.A., 169 Riviera Drive, on Monday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jane Frances Church on Tuesday at 11am. Interment in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, Maryland.
