Messinger, Carol (Nee Beitler)

Carol Beth Messinger (née Beitler), 68, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025.

Born April 2, 1957 in Baltimore, Carol studied at UMBC and later earned her Associate of Nursing degree from Anne Arundel Community College. She dedicated more than 30 years to a career as a registered nurse in Anne Arundel County, where she was known for her compassion, humor, and care for others. In her 20’s, Carol spent a year living in Sdot Yam, a kibbutz in Israel, an experience she cherished and inspired her conversion to Judaism. She loved traveling, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and could make a delicious cheesecake. 

Carol is survived by her daughter Sara Durham (Justin), her son Jared Messinger (Julie Moretti), six grandchildren Aidan, Olivia, Harper, Noah, Asher, and Izzy, her sister Maureen Beitler, and brother John Beitler. She was preceded in death by her brother Martin Beitler and her parents Helen and Robert Beitler.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Gonce Funeral Home, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, MD 21122.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake (hospicechesapeake.org) or to Jewish National Fund (jnf.org/trees) to plant a tree in her honor.
