Betty Jo Shelton

Betty Jo Shelton, 90, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on April 24, 2023. She was born on August 5, 1932, in Webster, WV, to Elma Jones Cowger. 

Betty was a loving, caring, and giving person who never excluded anyone. She always made sure that everyone around her was fed and would go without if she had to. Betty enjoyed great food and cooking and was known to post lots of recipes to her Facebook account. She also loved playing Mahjong on her iPad and watching her Baltimore Orioles play.

Betty worked as a Retail Associate at a Baby Clothing Store, Quality Assurance at a Glass Factory, but was most proud of her time and relationships she made as a Barmaid.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Elma Jones Cowger, her sisters Genevieve Jones and Annabelle Bonnett Clay, Former Husband Robert Shelton, and her children Scott, Stanley, and Stephen Shelton. She is survived by her Granddaughter Katherine Shelton, Daughter-in-law Pat Shelton, Sister Jane Broyles and her family, and Brother Russell Bonnet and his family.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, from 5-7 pm, followed by a service from 7-8 pm, at Gonce’s Funeral Home in Brooklyn, MD. Betty will be remembered as a kind and loving person who always put others first.
