Betty Jane Butler, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Marion Glenn Lindsay and the late Anna Mae Carneal Lindsay.
Betty was born in Baltimore on October 13, 1938. Betty spent her life in the Brooklyn Park area. She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore. Betty worked for Locke Insulator in her early years and left to raise her two sons. She worked for a period of time at Brooklyn Park Elementary and was integral in setting up the media center in the new school.
Betty was a woman of great faith and was a member for the Fellowship Baptist Church in Ferndale. She participated in a Bible Study group with women from local churches. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grand-dogs. Holidays were a favorite for Betty, she especially loved decorating her home for the holidays and gathering with her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James Warren Butler; two sons, David Butler (Patricia), and Gary Butler (Dawn); three grandsons, Michael, Tyler (Lindsay) and Sean; one granddaughter Jessica and three great- granddaughters Cammie, Alice and one on the way. Betty is also survived by many cousins including Sue Carneal Wegner, Donnie Tabor (Cathy) and Laurie Butler Bouton (John). She was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
For friends and family, a viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00 PM at Gonce Funeral Home in Brooklyn. A service will also be held there on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00AM, followed by interment at Glen Haven Cemetery.
