Bernardine Deville Obituary

Bernardine Anna Deville (nee Nehring) passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was 91. She was the beloved mother of Peggy Tester (Tom) of Selbyville, Delaware, Jeannine McCarrick (Todd) of Ferndale, Maryland and Charmaine Deville of Glen Burnie, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Deville, her two sons Michael and Dennis Deville and grandson Samuel Deville. She leaves 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Born in Baltimore of humble beginnings, she had a twin brother and 6 other siblings. She's the last of a generation. She married a Cajun soldier at 18 and raised 5 children in Severn, always pointing them to God.

She loved to dance and was proud of her Polish/German heritage and her husband's Cajun heritage. She enjoyed many things but loved to read, journal, garden, play Yahtzee, eat crabs and tacos and cheer for the Colts and the Ravens. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Philip Neri church.

She was a happy homemaker and then later loved working as a waitress. She loved to tell stories about her childhood and tell jokes to make people laugh. Her last several years were plagued with health problems but she was a tough lady. Her grandchildren referred to her as a "tank". She was looking forward to seeing her family and friends in Heaven but mostly to see and be with her Savior Jesus. She'll be greatly missed and we look forward to our reunion one day! She'd always say "when in doubt, look up!" A celebration of her life will be at a later date.
