On May 31, 2026, Barbara Misek (nee Huegelmeier) passed away at age 72.
A dedicated public servant, Barbara spent 35 years working for the Department of Defense, where she built a career with commitment, professionalism, and pride. After retirement, she made her home in Florida where she spent 12 memorable years. During that time, she famously weathered 6 hurricanes, a testament to her resilience, determination and ability to face life's challenges head-on. She remained in Florida until the birth of her great grandson, whose arrival brought her immeasurable joy. When she wasn't spending time with family, you could often find Barbara with a good book in hand or enjoying her favorite reality television shows on Bravo.
More than anything, Barbara treasured her family. She adored spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandson, creating countless memories. Her family was the center of her world and she took great pride in watching each generation grow.
Barbara was the beloved mother of Cynthia Milligan and husband Craig; devoted grandmother of Caitlyn Milligan (Ryan), and Cara Milligan (Michael); cherished great grandmother of Oakley Cooper-Weedon (affectionately nicknamed Gingerbread Man by his great grandmother); dear sister of Joe Huegelmeier (Pat); loving aunt of Joey Huegelmeier.
A Memorial Gathering will be at Gonce Funeral Service, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) from 5 to 6:30 PM, with a Memorial Service beginning at 6:30 PM.
Feel free to express your condolences on her tribute wall.
