On April 7, 2025, Anita Cheswick passed away at age 103. Anita was a 1940 graduate of Seton High School. She was active in St. Athanasius, teaching Sunday School, serving communion and organizing church dinners. She served as a Staff Sargant in the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox and San Diego. She remained friends with her military colleagues after her discharge by attending and organizing many reunions. She also worked for Baltimore City Schools as an assistant librarian.
Anita first met the love of her life, Henry, at St. Athanasius during school. They did not meet again until both were discharged from the military after serving in World War II. They married in 1949 and had 66 years of wedded bliss.
Anita is survived by her children, Michael Cheswick (wife Barbara Cheswick), Christopher Cheswick, and Colleen Cheswick, her grandchildren Meghan Otto (husband Mark Otto) and Luke Cheswick, her niece Lorraine Schwartz and son Frankie Schwartz, and great grandsons James and Henry Otto.
She is predeceased by her husband Henry Cheswick, mother and father, Anna and William Beran, brothers William J. Beran and Ronald Beran, sister Delores Feeley and grandson Matthew Cheswick.
Family requests relatives and friends visit Gonce Funeral Service, 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Athanasius Chapel at 11 AM. Mrs. Cheswick will be laid to rest with her husband on May 6, 2025 (Tuesday) at 10:45 AM at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville with military honors.
