On April 22, 2025, Allen Richard Flower, Sr. passed away at age 76 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Flower proudly worked for Baltimore, Gas and Electric Company for 42 years until he retired in 2011.
Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He took pride in his children and grandchildren and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. Allen was affectionately known to many people as "Big Al". He was a very friendly person and made friends easily. In his free time, he enjoyed playing in a men's softball league, playing cards and pool, fishing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his friends at their local hangout. He enjoyed making and repairing golf clubs after he retired. Allen was also a volunteer firefighter at Riviera Beach Fire Department for many years.
Allen was husband to late Cheryl T. Flower for 38 years prior to her death in 2007. He was the father of four children, Allen Flower, Jr., of Rosenberg, Texas, Kelly Scott of Severna Park, Nikole MacKellar of Orchard Beach, and the late Jason Flower, and was "Grandaddy" or "G-Daddy" to 11 Grandchildren (Elizabeth Dean, Christopher Flower, Mariah Scott, Alec Flower, Madeline Scott, Rebekah Flower, Macey Scott, Morgan Scott, Chelsee Flower, Ashlyn Ford, and Marissa Scott) as well as two Great Grandchildren, Ryen Cobak and Matthew (MJ) Cubbage. He was the son of the late Allen Flower and Mary M. Flower, and the brother of the late Robert White.
Allen was a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD. He worked hard to support and provide for his wife and children and was a very generous man. Allen had a big presence about him, he had a great smile, and will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Allen's life at Gonce Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00PM with a service immediately following.
