James Evans Jr. Obituary

James T. Evans, Jr.

On October 1, 2019, James T. Evans, Jr. (U.S. Army Ret.) son of the late James T. Evans, Sr. and Adelaide M. Evans (nee Markert), a long-time resident of Glen Burnie, MD, passed away due to medical complications. Born on January 7, 1927, Jim was 92.  His wife of over 50 years, Elizabeth Maxine (“Max”) Evans (nee Humphrey), preceded him in death in January, 2000. Jim is survived by his daughters Melinda Evans and Ann Rogers, his son Michael (Jennifer) Evans and grandson Robert Rogers.   He will be remembered by Justine Olsen and Buck (Sarah) Stokes whom he thought of as a grandson as well as many other friends and acquaintances.

Jim was a decorated Korean War Veteran with over 20 years of military service.  In 1946, he was chosen to be a driver for the United Nations Lebanese Delegation in New York.  As a military police officer, Jim was proud to serve his country before, during and after the Korean conflict.  His tour of duty took him and his family to Fairbanks, Alaska where they participated in the many activities the State of Alaska offers such as gold panning, dog sled races, hunting, visiting Santa at the “North Pole”, and various Native American events.  Jim retired at Ft. Meade, MD and began a civil service career before retiring as a Supply Officer.

After retirement, Jim pursued his love of hunting and fishing.  He was well known by the DNR staff and will be missed.  “Max” happily joined him on the beaches of the Outer Banks,North Carolina for fishing and camping trips.
