Cowan, Walter D.
Walter “Dan” Daniel Cowan, the Man, the Myth and, now, Legend of Baltimore was called home to our Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
Born March 26, 1958, to Rosa Brown and Walter Cowan. Dan, to all who knew him, was a charming and intelligent individual who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He married Theda “Rachel” Briemann, and together they raised three handsome sons; Hayston, Mark & Scott, along with two witty, beautiful twin daughters; Danielle & Dana. Dan’s superior parenting skills are reflected in the spouses that each of his children took; Dory, Jackie, Amy, Jordon and Chris. Dan was also a dedicated grandfather to 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Hayston, William, Camden, Haylee, Kaeleigh, Addison, Natalie, Jackson, Jules, Kayson, Bryce, Peyton and Waverli.
Retired Corrections Officer, Dan also served the United States as an Army MP and tug boat engineer. An avid outdoorsman, Dan, actively hunted, metal detected and pursued the elusive Bigfoot. In his spare time he enjoyed; listening to talk radio and podcasts, sitting with his dogs, and spending time with his wife in their mountain cabin.
Major life achievements for Dan include; producing the most hilarious daughters that ever graced this earth, being the youngest man to submit Mt. Everest, becoming a HAM radio operator, subbing for rock-star guitar player SLASH of Guns-n-Roses, single-handedly digging the Cumberland Gap, co-staring in the major motion picture The Replacements, being the very first parent to be banned from chaperoning field trips at Belle Grove Elementary School, and living to tell the tale of his alien abductions.
Dan will be well missed by many. With respect to his wishes, no services will be held. To anyone who is curious, yes, he is playing 4D chess.
