On June 27, 2017 Gladys Kemp, age 94 passed away at her home. Mrs. Kemp was born and raised in England. During World War II she was drafted into the Home Guard, and served as a firefighter through the Blitz and was at the Port when soldiers were returning from Dunkirk. Mrs. Kemp met her Army soldier Sam Kemp during an air raid, became his war bride and accompanied him to the U.S. in 1946. They were married shortly after and settled in Baltimore. In 1945 the couple established the Cedar Hill Florist on Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park.
Mrs. Kemp was the Beloved wife of 72 years to Samuel G. Kemp, and was the devoted mother of Larry Kemp, Diane Dunivin, Kenneth Kemp, Donald Kemp and Joyce Cossentino. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit Gonce Funeral Service P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Sunday July 2, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service on Monday at 12 noon followed by interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Please leave condolences on this website.
